Eckes-Granini France, the soft drink division of the ECKES AG, is Europes leading producer of fruit juices

A sewage treatment plant built to assist both, juice production and regular activities is able to process waste water up to 1000 m³/d.

The automation consists of a central automation device and 14 decentralized peripherals. Power supply for all units and technical installations is provided by a low voltage main distribution board consisting of 18 seperate fields.

The entire EMSR-conception was realised by BSA and a French partner, mainly focusing on process- control- and feedback-engineering systems.

condomi erfurt produktionsgesellschaft mbH

During business year 2002, the condomi erfurt produktionsgesellschaft mbH will increase its condom production capacities from 220 mio. to 720 mio. pieces. To achieve this goal, existing production facilities have been enhanced and crucial parts of the manufacturing process have been automated.

Automation includes 3 interconnected SPS-devices (each with a touch panel) to maintain and control different issues of base material preparation, such as stock-keeping, batching and mixture. Additionally, a supervisory process control system is used to monitor and archive all relevant data regarding production, mixture and maintenance processes.
BNA realised all automation and maintenance devices, as well as the complete EMSR-installation.

Southern Thuringian water administration union - Water purification plant Schönbrunn

Every day, the reservoir Schönbrunn provides about. 27,000 m³ of drinking water, supplying 230,000 customers in southern Thuringia. To meet the high standards applied to drinking water, several techniques of filtration are required.

Automation of the purification plant consists of 30 interconnected SPS-devices to monitor and control 6 batchers, 14 multi layer filters, a warp treatment facility, electric installations and support devices.

BNA's responsibilty included both, installation and programming of SPS-devices, operator panels and bus system, as well as co-ordination of master control issues.

Southern Thuringian water administration union - water conduit maintenance

High quality drinking water coming from the purification plant Schönbrunn is distributed to 230,000 consumers via 150 km of water conduits.

A decentralized automation system allows to coordinate and control 13 elevated tanks, 55 shafts, 5 pumping stations and 9 technical support stations.

Installation, technical engineering and central control issues of this project were executed by BNA.

Stadtwerke Meiningen GmbH - control system for a combined supply network

In the city of Meiningen, a central control system is used to manage different municipal supply facilities. This includes issues such as heat generation and distribution, energy supply, water supply, sewage disposal and public baths.

The control system consists of a redundant control station for long-distance heating and minor control units for each of the remaining issues. This whole network is connected with a dispensed automation system, consisting of 5 SPS-devices and remote workstations. Each of these SIEMENS and SAT stations features up to 29 external sub-stations.

BNA was responsible for the installation and further development of the central control system and the implementation of external control devices, including systhematic data management.

Saxonian water reservoir administration, Freiburger Mulde/ Zschopau

Being part of the reservoir union "Mittleres Erzgebirge", the reservoir Saidenbach and its pumping station Rauenstein are responsible for the regional water supply of Chemnitz. During the recent sanitation of Rauenstein pumping station, BN Automation AG realised a completely improved EMSR-system. To ensure flawless communication between several SPS-devices (located in pumping stations and various shafts) and the main process control of reservoir Saidenbach, a TCP/IP network for data transmission and remote control has been planned and successfully istalled.

Since the control systems are widely spread, unshielded standard cables are used for data transmission, while special communication components ensure complete integration of each system into the network. To avoid security-problems, the TCP/IP connections work on a redundant basis. This system combines several advantages: it allows highly reliable connections between main process control and every single control system, automation devices can be programmed by using any of the network access points, long distance data transmission is realised via common devices, the system is open to future extensions (secure investment issue).

Thuringian reservoir administration department - Central monitoring and control of three drinking water reservoirs: Tambach-Dietharz, Schmalwasser, Ohra

These three water reservoirs deliver 33 mill. m³ of water per annum, 15.5 mill. m³ of which serve as drinking water supply for about 700,000 customers.

To automate technical processes and to ensure functionality, it was necessary to install a network of three autarchic sub-systems, coordinated by a master control system.

BNA delivered and installed three partially redundant automation systems, consisting of MSR devices, monitoring/remote control devices, display and mosaic devices, as well as the master control system.

Stadtwerke Weißenfels GmbH - Sewage treatment plant Weissenfels

The capacity of the completely biological sewage treatment plant near Weissenfels is designed for a population of about 80,000.

To automate monitoring and control functions, a network consisting of 9 SPS-devices - supervised by a redundant master control system - has been installed.

BNA's responsibilty included the complete EMSR-installation, mainly focusing on the programming of SPS-devices, operator panels and bus system, as well as co-ordination of master control issues.

Horváth & Partners Management Consultancy

Horvath & Partners group is an international management consultancy with 10 branch offices in 6 countries. Since 1996, the company's IT-infrastructure in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is supervised by BN Automation AG. This task includes different issues like technical planning and updating, as well as delivery, installation, configuration and permanent maintenance of IT-structures.

To achieve best possible reliability, most of the technical platforms are manufactured by Hewlett-Packard, while 3Com delivers the network devices.

Another key element in Horvath & Partners IT-structure are Novell's NetWare-operated servers, whose unique directory system NDS allows central network administration. Once registered and configured, individual user accounts are accessible from every computer of the network, be it in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.
